Bikes

Dahon has been the world's leading manufacturer of folding bicycles for over 30 years. In addition, more than 95% of all folding bicycles on the market today are based on Dahon's advanced technology. All Dahon folding bikes feature the highest level of excellence.

About the brand and its main advantages

The history of the first folding bike

Dahon, one of the world's largest manufacturers of folding bicycles, was founded in 1982 by physicist and laser technology expert Dr. David T. Hon. He came up with the idea of a folding bike after the oil crisis of the 1970s.

During the energy crisis of the 1970s, Hong, being a cyclist, noticed the inconvenience associated with transporting a bicycle on public transport. This led him to the idea of creating a folding model.

After inventing the prototype of the folding bike, Hong faced a production problem. Despite the fact that he had 7 patents for his inventions, no major manufacturer wanted to take on the production of non-standard folding bicycles. But this did not stop him from going through all the difficulties and making the Dahon brand known to the whole world.

One of the most compact in its class

Compactness is one of the main characteristics of Dahon bicycles, which makes them an ideal choice for urban residents, public transport passengers and travelers. Dahon is constantly improving its folding technology to make bicycles as convenient as possible for storage and transportation.

Dahon folding bicycles — 16", 20", 26" are folded into neat, convenient for storage and transportation rectangular structures without protruding parts.

The Dahon 16" folding bike easily folds down to the size of a shopping bag and fits under a bus seat or in an airplane luggage compartment; two 16" and two 20" folding bikes fit side by side in the trunk of most medium-sized cars. The Dahon 26" models are the most compact in their class.

DELTECH TECHNOLOGY©

DELTEC© technology is an innovative solution from Dahon, which is a steel cable added to the frame structure of a folding bike to significantly increase its rigidity. This makes it possible to significantly improve the ride characteristics of the bike and make it safer.

The DELTEC© cable forms a triangular structure that transforms the main frame of the bike from a single-tube to a truss structure. Trusses are inherently much more rigid than regular frames, making the bike more durable and stable.

According to Dahon, the DELTEC© cable increases frame rigidity by 15%, which is especially important for single-tube folding bicycles. The increased rigidity makes the bike more stable on the road, improves handling and allows you to feel more confident even on uneven terrain.

Compact and portable
The main advantage of Dahon folding bicycles is their small size when folded. They can be easily stored in an apartment or office, transported on public transport, in the trunk of a car, or even taken with you on trips.
Ease of transportation
Thanks to the folding design, the bike can be easily carried when folded. This is especially important for residents of large cities who have to combine cycling with metro or other transportation.
Robust and reliable construction
Dahon uses patented technologies for its frames, which ensures their strength and durability. For some models, such as the Dahon Mariner D8, the frames are made of durable Dalloy Sonus alloy.
Safety
Safety systems such as DoubleLok prevent accidental folding of the bike during carrying.
Comfortable riding
With 20-inch wheels and thoughtful geometry, Dahon bikes provide a stable and comfortable ride comparable to the feel of classic bikes.

Features

DELTECH©

DELTECH© is a revolutionary advancement in frame design that delivers a stable ride without sacrificing key folding characteristics.

DELTECH© perfects the monotube folding bicycle frame by creating a stable triangular structure and becoming one of the key design elements involved in the overall load distribution.
