Hydraulic disc brakes make it easy to slow down smoothly. The short-reach levers can be adjusted to suit your child’s finger length. Your child can reach the brakes without stretching.
The belt drive needs no lubrication and keeps grease off your child’s clothes and your car’s interior. The gears sit inside the rear hub, protected from the dirt of everyday riding.
The 2″ Schwalbe Billy Bonkers tyres cushion small bumps on tarmac and firm dirt paths. Your child can take the same bike on everyday trips and weekend park rides.
The saddle height adjusts as your child grows. The aluminium frame does not rust. Double-wall rims are built for active riding.

I ended up with the Early Rider and have zero complaints. It’s expensive no doubt but the quality is worth it. In another year the kid will be in adult size ranges (already 5’2”) so this was a great intermediate stop. They’re still figuring out gears but took it to a couple of riding day camps this summer in the city and had a great time. In reality you probably can’t go wrong with any of them!
